African ebony is one of the densest hardwoods in the world — heavy, fine-grained, and naturally dark. New pieces range in tone from deep brown to purple-black; with regular handling and wear, the wood stabilises into its characteristic jet-black lustre. This is not a flaw in the material. It is the material doing what it does.

Brass is used throughout the collection as wire wrap, inlay, cast cap, or dot accent. It ages naturally — oxidising slowly toward a warmer, darker tone — and can be wiped back to brightness with a dry cloth whenever you choose. Together, ebony and brass produce a contrast that reads as both ancient and considered.

My pendant looks brown, not black — is something wrong?

No. New ebony that has not yet been handled will often appear dark brown rather than deep black. The characteristic jet-black colour develops as the wood is worn and handled regularly — natural oils from your hands gradually stabilise and deepen the pigment. Wear it consistently and it will become more itself over time.

Will the brass tarnish or rust?

Brass oxidises naturally over time, which many find adds to its character. Surface oxidation can be removed with a gentle wipe of a dry cloth. To slow the process, store pieces in a dry place away from humidity. Avoid wearing in water or while exercising heavily.

Are these pieces suitable for men?
